Annual Macnamara Trail Cleanup

Ten stalwart members took advantage of a brilliant late October morning to hike the Macnamara Trail with wheelbarrows, shovels, loppers, and chainsaws. They spread a large load of woods chips on the soft spots along the trail, gathered garbage, and tackled the immense blowdown on the trail extension to Marshall's Bay.

The latter was particularly challenging, with hundreds of trees down in a near-impenetrable tangle. Sloan and Paul cut and cut, until they ran out of gas.

Of course, Sloan, being diesel-powered, was unstoppable.

Although they got a hundred feet into the tangle, much more remained up ahead, as a glance through the woods behind Paul reveals. (No, past that another hundred feet!)

Still, everyone got a lot accomplished, and the lunch after at PJ's was well-deserved.
